Psychogeographic Map Making Party
Thursday, April 24, 2008 • 6:30–9 PMJoin Solutions Twin Cities at Intermedia Arts for a psychogeographic walking tour & map-making party. You'll form small groups and set out on foot in search of unique insights into the urban fabric of the surrounding Uptown neighborhoods. Your route will be randomly generated by a few rolls of the die, resulting in a pattern like: walk three blocks, turn right; walk two blocks, turn left; repeat. Utilizing Google Earth, a projector, and a wall sized "canvas", the groups will begin to layer their experiences during the walk over a projected representation of the city. When the projection is taken away, we are left with a psychogeographic map of Uptown that communicates our collective experience. These efforts will result in one map that will be on display at the Exhibition Party the following night for all to see. Drinks, a necessary component of any map making party, will be provided to assist the creative spirit. Free and open to all.
