SOTA: State of the Arts

On December 18, 2008, Intermedia Arts convened a historic meeting of more than 80 small- and mid-sized arts organizations from across the Twin Cities. We took the lead in catalyzing a first-of-its-kind conversation among small arts groups to discuss ideas for sharing resources and sustaining programming, and for taking the first step toward reinventing the way small arts achieves sustainability in our community. Facilitated by Carlo Cuesta of Creation in Common and joined by the following panelists:

  • Judith E. Alnes, MAP for Nonprofits
  • Kate Barr, Nonprofits Assistance Fund
  • Council Member Ralph Remington, City of Minneapolis
  • Paul Mellblom, Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle
  • Reggie Prim, Intermedia Arts Board of Directors
  • Sheila Smith, Minnesota Citizens for the Arts
  • Marcus Young, City of St. Paul Artist-in-Residence

The conversation continues online on Facebook. Thanks to Sheila Smith and Kathleen Maloney for taking the lead during a Groundhog Day online gathering.
