Up and Out: Revolution of Self
October 1-2, 2016

Up and Out: Revolution of Self was a free, multidisciplinary festival celebrating the artwork and identities of LGBTQIA+ youth from around the country. Featured work included visual art, performances, film, music, poetry, and more. The festival also offered workshops and panel discussions. Up and Out: Revolution of Self aimed to create a space where LGBTQIA+ youth are celebrated, encouraged, and amplified. Identities that are usually silenced become the norm, with a focus on the intersections between marginalized communities. Up and Out: Revolution of Self was curated by the Youth Leadership Council.

Intermedia Arts' Youth Leadership Council is a group of socially-conscious, active, and innovative young people between the ages of 12 and 20. The Youth Leadership Council (YLC) works to build an interdisciplinary youth community that fosters relationships and deepens interactions among teens. Members of the YLC plan special events and arts experiences that enable youth to get know Intermedia Arts as a place where they are respected, have access to art, and can develop their skills as artists and leaders.
