ORGANIZATONAL MISSION:

Intermedia Arts is a catalyst that builds understanding among people through art.
 

POSITION PURPOSE:
We are seeking someone to assist Intermedia's Creative Leadership Department and Community Design Team in delivering a nationally renowned series of arts-based retreats and events for leaders and professionals across the Twin Cities for 12-14 weeks to cover parental leave for an employee. The Creative Leadership Department provides comprehensive leadership training, resources and mentorship opportunities for artists and community development professionals, working as catalysts for community change. For Fall 2017, much of the program coordination will focus on IA’s Creative Community Leadership Institute (CCLI), which is a program that matches people who have a passion for change with the tools and experiences to advance their effectiveness, and take their work to the next level by leveraging the power of arts and culture. This position is an opportunity for a rising leader to build professional skills while forwarding a dynamic network of innovative, cross-sector leaders and collaborations addressing the social justice issues through the arts. The ideal candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be a proactive, resourceful, efficient and adaptive contributor to the work. Responsibilities Include:

  • Event and logistical support for Creative Leadership programming including staffing events, set up and break down, hospitality, record keeping, and documentation

  • Event planning support with Creative Leadership team

  • Communications support with regional leadership network including event recaps, network updates, and upcoming opportunities in the field

  • Respond to community inquiries/requests as needed

  • Maintain Dept contact lists

  • Maintain/update website content

  • Assists CCLI hosting team to provide inclusive, safe, and hospitable program environments for CCLI fellows and alumni

  • Administration including note taking, file organization, data processing, and scheduling

  • Assist evaluators in data collection for CCLI events including CCLI feedback forms, surveys, etc.

  • Any additional projects/duties agreed upon by fellow and supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Can be available for an average of 2 events per month during the day and/or evening/weekends

  • A driver’s license with current insurance

  • Communicative, and creative person needed to be a self-starter, able to work independently and in a fast paced diverse community and team environment

  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively with: artists and  individuals and communities of diverse racial, ethnic, economic, social and educational backgrounds

  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Interest (and experience) in arts-based community development and arts administration preferred

  • A personal passion to create more capable, healthy, and equitable communities through the arts

Desired Skills & Abilities:

  • Business/professional writing skills beneficial but not required.

  • Access to reliable transportation beneficial but not required

  • Web and social media savvy; Able to use and manage digital media files (digital video, digital audio, digital images), and experience with Microsoft Office Suite

  • An ability to creatively and constructively solve problems

  • A willingness explore and grow while meeting the changing requirements of the job

  • A commitment to maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professionalism

  • A good sense of humor

DEPARTMENT: Creative Leadership

REPORTS TO: Director of Creative Leadership Operations & Policy; Creative Leadership Programs Manager

DURATION: 12-14 weeks

PREFERRED START DATE: On or before September 11, 2017

HOURS: Part-time, 20 hours per week

COMPENSATION RANGE: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
